While living in Muriwai Judy fell in love with expressing the moods of this magical place through the lens of her camera.  She honed her craft as a photographer in a few different directions. Primarily the technique of Intentional Camera Movement (yes simply moving your camera as you take an image) suits her impatient and free spirited character as well as simplifies scenes down to their essence, resulting in an evocative, artistic expression that looks more like a painting than a photograph.  Muriwai’s landscapes also call to be captured in other ways and Judy often expresses her love of  wildness of the west coast and the ocean in a more traditional style but still equally as evocative.

Judy is enthusiastic about sharing her techniques and gives creative photography workshops around New Zealand, Australia and in Muriwai itself.
