See art, eat well, drink locally and have fun – all in one weekend. Family friendly!
Over 2–3 May 2026, discover the work of more than twenty local artists presenting painting, photography, jewellery, ceramics, rusticology, sculpture and textile art. The trail spans a variety of welcoming venues, including open studios, Good From Scratch Cookery School, Muriwai Lodge, Kumeu Art Centre and Kula Muriwai.

Pou Hihiri - Muriwai Commemorative Sculpture
On February 13, 2023 Cyclone Gabrielle tore through Muriwai Beach causing landslides and widespread destruction. Pou Hihiri (Muriwai commemorative sculpture) is a community artwork by Jeff Thomson, unveiled on March 23, 2025 to provide a shared space of reflection for all.
Same But Different: We Have Changed Our Name
Established in 2018 by Joss Hong and Judy Stokes (part of the North West Arts Charitable Trust), our group of artists has become more than open studios and art trails.

Love Letters - Let’s celebrate all the things we love!
A wonderful way for each of us to share our feelings and creativity, then peg our letter on the line!
Organised by the Muriwai Arts Open Studio Collective (North West Arts Trust) on Saturday and Sunday 19-20 March, the Love Letters free community event brought the artistic and/or poet out of each of us.

Artist Profile – Suzanne Way, Painter
“I have been painting for approximately 10 years. However, since moving to Muriwai 4 years ago with my family, I have taken painting more seriously. I joined the Muriwai Arts Collective (MAOS), and found this to be a hugely positive move forward, prompting me to exhibit my work and be involved in lasts years ‘Open Studio’ art trail. Some pretty big steps which I might add, were slightly terrifying at the time, but hugely rewarding and successful..”
